GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- A 48-7 win in 'Zero-week' didn't prove to be a decision maker for GJ head coach Robbie Owens.
Owens said on Tuesday that he will stick with a two-quarterback system between juniors John Wiman and Tyler Heinsma for at least week one, if not longer.
"Obviously with zero-week, there are always things we need to improve upon," said Owens, "but I think [Heinsma and Wiman] showed they are more than capable of running the team."
That means the Tigers will continue their quarterback competition on Friday against Mountain Vista in GJ's week one match up. "Both of them have earned that," commented Owens.
Wiman was in charge of the Tigers' opening drive last Friday night and he will be again against Mountain Vista.
GJ and Mountain Vista kick off at 4 p.m. m on Friday at Stocker Stadium.
