GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The back-and-forth battle between the Rockies and the Mustangs ended in an extra innings dog-fight on Wednesday.
The Rockies held the lead heading into the ninth, but Billings managed two runs off of Jesse Meaux in that inning to keep the game alive.
The Rox forced a tenth inning with an unearned run off a wild pitch by Alejandro Chacin.
Billings was un-phased by the long day, because in the tenth, Robbert Maddox smashed a solo-homer to right, and that proved to be the game-winner. 12-11 was the final tally.
The Rockies remain tied for first in the Pioneer League South, though, after Ogden also lost on Wednesday. With two games left to play in the first half, Ogden and Grand Junction are both two games ahead of Orem and Idaho Falls.
The Rockies finish the first half with two games in Idaho Falls, starting on Friday.
