Shawn Marsh takes over Central football

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Central High School alumnus, Shawn Marsh, is returning to his alma mater to coach football.

Central announced on Friday afternoon that Marsh will take over for Vern McGee, who resigned following a 0-10 season in 2012.

Marsh has an extensive coaching record in the Grand Valley, which includes head coaching stints with Grand Junction (2001-2007) and Fruita Monument (2010).

I missed the 'Friday Night Lights', Marsh told KKCO 11 Sports after he was hired.

"I sure love coaching and I love working with young men and teaching them the game of football," he added.
