GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Just about nine months ago the Grand Junction Rockies put in their final game, and ever since the community has been anticipating the start of a fresh season.
And now the Grand Junction Rockies are back, gearing up for their first games of the season next week. But first, the team hit the town for the annual Meet and Greet at The Ale House.
The night gave fans an opportunity to get those autographs and get a head start on knowing this year's squad. Around 30 players have already arrived, with just a handful of guys expected in the coming days to fill out that Pioneer League roster.
Already, these Rockies can see the excitement from the community.
"They support the team 155%," said returning player Terry McClure. "They love the GJ Rockies, and we've got a lot of support."
"It's awesome," said newcomer Garrett Schlecht. "I love the Grand Junction city so far, and they've welcomed me very nicely and I can't wait to get the season under way."
The Grand Junction Rockies open up their season on the road against Ogden Monday, June 16th, then have their home opener Friday, June 20th.
