Todd Helton to retire this month

DENVER, Colo. (KKCO) Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton will retire from Major League Baseball effective September 29, 2013.

The 40-year-old has spent 17 season with the Rockies, and recently recorded his 2,500th career hit.

He also currently ranks 16th all-time in doubles, with 585.

In 112 games this season, Helton is hitting .244 with 13 HR's and 52 RBI's.
