Wessinger, Stuart step up for the Rox 3rd consecutive 'W'

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Grand Junction Rockies (COL) continue to pounce on their opportunity to gain ground in the South Division while playing at Suplizio Field.

Matt Wessinger helped the Rockies to their third consecutive win on Thursday, 4-1 over the Idaho Falls Chukars (KC).

This is just the second time in the first 18 games of the season that the Rockies have scored only four runs and garnered a win. The first occurrence was Grand Junction's first win of the season at Idaho Falls on June 21st, 4-3.

Shawn Stuart notched his third win of the season for GJ with his best pitching performance yet to date. He pitched 3.0 innings allowing one unearned run, while striking out a career-high seven batters; six of those were the first six batters Stuart faced.

With the win, the Rockies (9-9) are now just 2.0 games behind Ogden for the South Division lead.
