1A CHSAA football playoffs: Hotchkiss hobbled, falls in first round

HOTCHKISS, Colo. (KKCO) Hotchkiss capped off another stellar regular season with a win over Meeker, but they came into their round one match-up with Burlington down two key starters.

Quarterback Devan Rupe suffered a concussion a couple weeks ago against Paonia, while starting tailback Alex Smith was also sidelined with a concussion sustained during practice on Tuesday.

Burlington jumped out to a 7-0 lead right away in the first quarter and the Bulldogs could never get their offense going, save for a Chris Allen touchdown reception late in the fourth.

Hotchkiss falls short of their season goal, but finish a very respectable 7-3 on the season, nonetheless.
