GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Grand Junction Tigers turned to a freshman to play quarterback and several other underclassmen in 2008. Now they are a year older and wiser and eager to make a statement in the 2009 season.
It was also the first season under head coach Robbie Owens last year. This year Owens says he would be disappointed if his team was not in the mix for a Southwestern Conference title by season's end.
Sophomore quarterback Sean Rubalcaba is expected to be the Tigers leader on offense after starting a majority of the Tigers games during his freshman year. Rubalcaba has gained 20 pounds since last season and feels that his added size will help him stand in the pocket with more confidence.
