GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - (KKCO) The last time the Grand Junction Tigers were seen in the state playoffs was when they made a run all the way to the 4A State Championship game against Thunderridge in 2005.

The Tigers lost the championship game and have been absent from the state playoffs ever since. But second year head coach Robbie Owens has the Tigers back in the post season.

Grand Junction (3-6) finished ranked 26th in the 5A playoff point system and they were given the seventh seed in Region C for a first round matchup against Chaparral, the second seeded team in that region.

Chaparral is the seventh ranked team overall and has a 7-2 record this season.

The game between Grand Junction and Chaparral will take place on Saturday, November 7 at Burt.com Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
