FRUITA, Colo. - (KKCO) A solide mixture of aggressive defense and quick offense led the Grand Junction Tigers past the Carbon County Dinos 44-27 at the Wildcat Invitational on Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore guard Jamie Derrieux scored a game high 19 points in the Tigers win.

Grand Junction rolled to an early 9-2 lead in the first quarter to force a Dinos timeout. But on the first play after the timeout Tigers forward Paula Lage picked off a pass near the top of the key and ran the length of the floor for an easy layup to squash any idea of a Carbon County comeback.

The Grand Junction girls will contiue play on Friday against number one ranked Thunderridge at 6:15 p.m.

Carbon County's next game will be against the Fruita Monument Wildcats on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
