Former Tigers head coach headed to Fruita

FRUITA, Colo. - (KKCO) Former Grand Junction High School head football coach Shawn Marsh has been hired to take over the same position with the Fruita Monument Wildcats.

Marsh was the Tigers head coach for six seasons before leaving to pursue personal business opportunities with his family.

Last fall Marsh got back into coaching by helping out Joe Ramunno as the Mesa State Mavericks running backs coach. On Wednesday he was officially hired to take over head coaching duties at Fruita Monument High School.

“We feel very fortunate to have had 27 applicants and six qualified individuals who interviewed for this job," FMHS Athletic Director Denny Squibb said. "It was a hard decision but we are confident we hired the right person for the job, We are excited to start working with Coach Marsh, as we begin a new era with our football program.”

Billy Moore was dismissed as the Wildcats head coach back on January 5 after holding that position for 12 years.
