GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The Colorado Mesa football team will wrap up their road play with a game against Western State Colorado this Saturday, and after their last two outings they're looking to get back on track
At the beginning of the season the Mavs fell in their first conference game to a ranked opponent. Then they learned from their mistakes and posted four straight wins, becoming one of the top teams in the RMAC and looking to be a big contender.
Unfortunately the high powered offense of mines and the all-around top play from 3rd ranked Pueblo proved too much to handle. Now they're down to 4-3 with just two games left in the season to step up.
"We haven't had a winning record around here in a long time, so it's essential we get that going and kind of leave a legacy for the rest of the teams to come as the years go on, and it means a lot to us seniors to go off on a high note," said senior Mike Brady.
"Our guys have continued to get better," said head coach Russ Martin. "We're a little bit banged up right now but honestly I think we're getting better as a football team and I think we'll continue to get better here this week."
