GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Delta Panthers shocked all of Class 3A when they upset former No. 3 Palisade last week.

And for his efforts as the Panthers head coach, Ben Johnson was honored by the Denver Broncos.

Johnson was named the Denver Broncos high school Coach of the Week for the first time in his career on Tuesday.

"I was very surprised and very honored," said Johnson in a phone conversation with KKCO 11 Sports on Tuesday.

Due to the big win by the Panthers over the Bulldogs, Delta was ranked in the state's top ten for the first time since 2010 this week.

On Friday, the No. 9 Panthers have another opportunity for an upset when they host No. 1 Rifle.
