GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The last time the Delta Panthers beat Palisade in baseball was in March of 2011. The Bulldogs took the first game this season, and heading into Tuesday's second matchup, the winner would take control of the 4A WSL.
Led by two home runs from Tyler Sandoval, Delta was finally on the winning side, as they hold off a late push from Palisade by a final score of 10-6.
Delta improves to 8-1 in the league, while Palisade technically drops behind Eagle Valley (5-2) to third place (7-3).
The Southwestern League saw quite the shakeup Tuesday as well.
At the day's beginning, Fruita Monument held the lead in the league. That all changed quickly as they fell to Central 5-2.
The Warriors were led again by Michael Price, who pitched a complete game, striking out 12 Wildcats. He also had a double that plated two.
Down in Montrose, the Indians were able to move into the SWL lead, as they were able to overcome an early 2-0 lead from Grand Junction and knock off the Tigers 6-2. Tyrus Lopez picks up the win from the mound.
The Indians are atop the league standings (6-2), followed by Central (4-2) and Fruita Monument (6-3).
