GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. CMU got their season going a couple weeks ago and the Rockies are currently down in Scottsdale for spring training gearing up for their Opening Day, but Thursday we'll see the high school season get underway with the Bill Fanning Classic.

Fruita Monument will welcome in Brighton for their first contest, while Central has Horizon at Suplizio Field.

The Warriors have been kind of stuck in the middle of the Southwestern League for the last few years, going 11-8 in back to back seasons and finishing just behind Montrose and Grand Junction, but they were the best team from the mound a year ago, allowing the fewest runs in the SWL.

As it is at the beginning of each season, teams need to find ways to fills the rolls of the departing seniors.

While the Warriors lost some of their most productive players, a lot of last year's talent were underclassmen, and combined with a couple skilled seniors, this very well could be the year they're at the top of one of the state's toughest leagues come May.

Thursday: Central vs. Horizon @ Suplizio Field, 1:00 PM
Fruita Monument vs. Brighton @ Canyon View, 1:00 PM
