MONTROSE, Colo. Fruita Monument traveled to Montrose for a set of games. First on the agenda were the girls, and Fruita came ready with their A-game.
By the third quarter, the Indians tied it up at 13, but it wouldn't take long for the Wildcats to pull ahead by 10 and hang on for the 27-25 victory. It marked a huge upset, as the once 5-0 Montrose Indians were served their first loss in the SWL. Now, the race between Montrose, Fruita Monument, and Grand Junction is a tight one through the final games of the regular season.
As for the boys, Fruita hoped for a win in order to keep pace with the SWL-leading Grand Junction Tigers. Though Montrose was able to stay close for the majority of the game, Fruita would pull ahead late for the 67-56 victory.
