GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction girls basketball team had some extra time to prepare for their first playoff game thanks to a 3-seed and first round bye.
Friday night their season gets put on the line against 6-seed Monarch, a team that may have the lower seed but averages just over 51 points per game, Grand Junction is right under 50.
Either way it's going to be a tight race when the two step onto Grand Junction's home court because each game from here on out is win or go home.
"We want to go far, that's definitely one of our goals we had early in the season so there's a lot of pressure coming out," said Shafer Rubalcaba, "but I think if we just go out and play how we know how to play we'll be alright."
"We're excited for playoffs and see how far we can go and just ready to get in the groove of things and go out and prove how we can play,"
said Sarah Wilkinson.
The big game takes place Friday evening at 5:30 at Grand Junction High School. Monarch enters 17-7 after a first round 60-34 win over Westminster. Grand Junction sits 21-2.
