RIFLE, Colo. When these two teams met back in mid-December, the Bulldogs had a fairly easy win 44-29.
Since then, the Bears have been a noticeably improved team, and Tueday night's game was much different.
Rifle led 31-30 at halftime, taking advantage of the tight game called by the referees (26 first half fouls total), and cashed in at the free-throw line.
Both teams came out of the break hot- Palisade, especially, as they netted 20 points in the third quarter.
It was with a few points until the final five minutes, when Rifle fell out of striking-range after a few turnovers, while the Bulldogs were solid from the free-throw stripe down the stretch.
Palisade got the better of Rifle for a second time this year 62-56.
Palisade improves to 7-3, bouncing back from losses to Central and Steamboat Springs, while Rifle drops to 1-6.
