HS Softball: FMHS prepares for regional tournament

FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) The Fruita Monument Wildcat softball team knew they needed to get a win Saturday morning against a tough Montrose team to have a shot at making the regional tournament.

They knocked off the Indians 5-0 and finished the regular season with a 11-8 record, which was good enough to grab a 28 seed.

Monday they were practicing in Fruita, knowing that their five seed opponent on Saturday October 12 won't be an easy one, but they're preparing with confidence.

"Our mindset right now is going into it with a 0-0 situation," said senior third baseman Makenzi DeCrow. "We're pretty positive right now."

"I have confidence in the whole team," said sophomore pitcher/first basemen Olivia Bratt. "I think we're pretty set for this weekend, just start on a new slate. Just start fresh and go in knowing that our defense is good and if we can hit, we'll be good.

They'll play the five seed Dakota Ridge (16-3) on Saturday in Littleton, CO at 10:00 AM.
