Thursday night high school wrestling picks up again, and 5A's 8th-ranked Fruita Monument Wildcats are coming off a strong first place performance at District 51's Jackpot Duals. Now they're ready to take that experience against 4A's 9th-ranked Montrose Indians.

Last season the duals were split with each team winning their own. Now with just over a month before regionals, guys are working hard to perfect their own craft and in doing so perfect the overall results of their team in the duals.

And Coach Van Hoose says their goals are pretty straight forward

"It's just to get better each week, to embrace the hard work, and just to keep working harder and trying to improve each week," said Coach Van Hoose. "You get down to where you're doing things different and start to individualize more for each and every kid."

"I treat every match just like the same for whatever it is," said senior Ian Konrad. "It doesn't matter if it's a dual or a tournament, I just go out there and wrestle."

Fruita Monument hosts Montrose Thursday at 6:00 PM. Grand Junction will also have a match of their own as Central travels to their gym at 7:00 PM.
