GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO)-- Damon Wells orchestrated another perfect, 10-0 regular season for the Rifle Bears this fall.

Last Friday, the Bears beat Eagle Valley 52-13 to remain undefeated for the second straight regular season.

For that, the Bears' head coach was recognized by the Denver Broncos as the high school Coach of the Week for the state of Colorado.

Wells has compiled a 27-5 record in three seasons as Rifle's head coach.

Overall ten coaches were honored this season by the Denver Broncos, and on Dec. 30th the Broncos will announce a coach of the year from the field of those ten candidates.

Including Wells, three coaches from western Colorado earned the Coach of the Week honor this season -- Ben Johnson, Delta; Sean Mulvey, Fruita Monument.
