GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Shelton State defeated Jefferson College 12-4 earlier this afternoon.
Though the Buccaneers seemed to get off to a slow start in the first, they found their momentum when they realized the Highlanders were here to play.
Bottom of the first, Jeffco's Fred Ford, one of the strongest hitters of the tournament, hit a 2-run homer to get the Vikings on the board first.
But the Buccaneers tied the game in the fifth inning, and then scored eight runs in the seventh and eighth inning to run away with the win.
Shelton will play on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
