Baseball fans from near and far continue to pack the Suplizio Field stands for the JUCO World Series, and for the first time, fans can show up after the first pitch and still have their favorite seats.

This year fans had a different option for getting their tickets. This is the first year in the history of JUCO that fans have been able to reserve their seats, either online, over the phone or at the stadium, and for many fans, it seemed like a logical next step for this national tournament.

The JUCO Committee has been toying with the idea of reserved seating for the last ten years, and the newly updated stadium made it easier to consider. Monumental Events and Tickets and JUCO discussed reserved seats after the 2011 JUCO tournament ended.

So far it looks to be a success, with 20-thousand total single-game tickets being reserved online and on the phone through Thursday’s games. That includes season ticket holders as well. For many, ordering tickets online is more convenient and ultimately saves time.

"Those who have purchased in those areas seem to be extremely happy with their purchase and have the ability to come in the bottom of the fifth if they want to and still have their seats. I think it's been a very good experience for them," Monumental Events and Tickets manager Landon Balding said.

While there may be some mixed emotions about the reserved tickets, JUCO is working hard to make it an affordable family event, and with 7200 seats, there really isn’t a bad seat in the house.

KKCO 11 News was at Suplizio Field a couple of hours before the afternoon game, and there was already a group waiting to get in to save their seats. Reserved seating could've saved a few people that waiting time and gotten them out of the sun.

Before today's games, JUCO’s attendance was close to 75,000 people.
