GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Eastern and Western Districts have their representatives set for the 2012 Alpine Bank JUCO World Series.
The Western Nevada Wildcats stormed back in the Western District finals against Salt Lake CC on Saturday. The Wildcats scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to upset Salt Lake, who was going for their first JUCO berth in the school's history. The Wildcats haven't been to Grand Junction for the tournament since 2009. This is the 3rd time in school history that W. Nevada will appear in the World Series.
The road was much easier for Spartanburg Methodist. The Pioneers swept Harford CC in the Eastern Tournament. Like the Wildcats of Western Nevada, SMC hasn't been in the national tournament since 2009. This year's appearance will be the 7th in SMC's history, and the 5th time since 2001.
