GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Local tennis players were in for a treat Saturday.

Former tennis professional Taylor Dent was in town at the Bookcliff Country Club putting on his Dent Tennis Academy.

Dent spent 12 years on the pro tour and rose in the rankings to as high as number 21 in the world during his career.

Those who attended the camp over the weekend received hours of coaching and guidance, which focused on a new type of modern game. Dent says the sport has evolved over the last several years.

"Really trying to immerse them in the idea that the game is about modern ideas and philosophies of hitting heavy spin, opening up the court and coming into the net after short forehands," Dent said. "(Not) so much serving and volley and chipping and charging anymore."
