GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Brianna Baldwin, a senior softball player at Grand Junction High School, has stepped out and encouraged her friends and classmates to give through "Change for Change" - a fundraiser to help support her cousin who was diagnosed with cancer.
"It was nerve wrecking, but I felt inspired" said Baldwin after talking in front of her high school at their pep rally. "I just really wanted to help him out, and I thought that everybody else would, too."
Benjamin Gibson is just 12 years old, an eighth grader at Columbine Middle School in Montrose. A few months ago he was diagnosed with cancer. He was an all-around athlete, playing basketball, baseball, soccer and football.
Baldwin hopes she can continue to raise money throughout the community and give back to a family member in need.
