GRAND JUNCTION - The Mesa State football team has been picked to finish sixth this season in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, according to the preseason poll released this week.
At the same time, the Mavs have five players headlining the All-Conference team. Including unanimous selections Bobby Coy, Drew Bohannon and Kurt Kissner.
Coy returns to the field this season after missing most of last year with a knee injury. The season resulted in a medical redshirt and he'll be starting at running back this season as a sophomore.
Drew Bohannon has been the Mavericks leading receiver for the past two seasons. He brings a deep-threat presence to the Mavs offense as a senior this season.
Another unanimous selection was senior Defensive End Kurt Kissner. Kissner will anchor the Mavs defense this year along with Defensive Back Brandon Waymire who received some All-Conference votes.
Sophomore Justin Murray is already turning heads as a sophomore. The kick return specialist from Grand Junction High School is the fifth member of the Mavericks football team to receive All-Conference recognition.
