Joe Gagnon is a reporter for the 11 News team. He drove five straight days in his little car from his little home state, Rhode Island, and arrived here in January 2008.
He was always been hooked on watching television news while growing up and finally received his Journalism Degree from the University of Rhode Island. Actually, becoming a reporter didn't even cross Joe's mind until he accidentally sat in on the wrong class on the first day of college. After that "mistake" he realized being an on-air TV reporter could be a reality.
Throughout his years at URI, he had numerous internships and jobs, including: reporting for a Providence NPR station and interning at the assignment desk for Providence television stations, taking pictures of people at Maxim parties, driving a blood truck and producing independent films.
Joe's first television job was as an Assignment Editor at WLNE in Providence, Rhode Island. There he had priceless experience about how the business works. From funneling in every story in the state to managing reporters and photographers to booking news feeds off of satellites.
Although Joe loved the position and the fantastic people he worked with, he knew he had a different calling; to be on-air talent.
Joe loves to make anyone he meets laugh, or he at least tries, successfully or not. Most importantly, he loves broadcasting stories that impact the lives of the community. Since moving to Colorado, Joe now believes in love at first sight after moving from the small Rhode Island hills to the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
