Jessica Zartler joined KKCO in August as a News Reporter. Although she misses the Florida beaches she is excited to call Grand Junction home.
She was born and raised in Orlando and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science.
She started her career at WOFL Fox 35 News in Orlando as a Production Assistant. During the tumultuous hurricane season of 2004, when three hurricanes tore through Central Florida, Jessica worked her way onto the news desk. She didn’t mind sleeping in editing bays and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for three days straight to bring people the life saving information they needed.
She worked for the next two years as an Assignment Editor at Fox covering everything from wildfires to elections to the space program.
After listening to police scanners, researching stories and managing field crews she wanted to try her hand at producing. She landed a job as an Associate Producer for WESH 2 News in Orlando.
While she worked at WESH she also Anchored, Reported, Produced and Shot Video for WNSC News, UCF’s weekly news program.
She also had a stint as the Health Reporter for Seminole County Government Television.
Jessica has always enjoyed being a journalist. She loves investigating hard hitting stories that matter to people.
When she’s not working she likes to play drums, travel, cook, play tennis, read, dance, go camping and discuss quantum physics.
