A native of Westminster, Colorado, Phil is thrilled to join the KKCO 11 News team! Phil has been involved in sports since he could walk, and after he graduated high school, he knew that he wanted to continue in a career that would keep him close to the culture he loves: Sports! Phil graduated Magna Cum Laude from the prestigious Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Television-Radio production. From the first day Phil stepped onto Ithaca's "gorges" campus, he was heavily involved with the ICTV sports department and the sports radio department. Phil co-hosted the studio portion of Bombers Football 2009 and he was an executive producer/line-producer for ICTV's only live, 1-hour sports show, SportsFinal. He was also a member of the broadcast team for WICB 91.7 FM's live radio broadcast of Bombers Football in 2010 as a sideline reporter, and he did play-by-play for multiple sporting events including men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's soccer. As if that didn't keep Phil busy enough, he added 2 minors to his resume before graduating; Spanish and Mathematics. Outside of his experience with campus productions, Phil says his most memorable moments of college were his internship experiences. "By far, the best experience of my entire life was interning with NBC Sports during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia," he says. In Vancouver, Phil worked as a Runner at the Cypress Mountain venue, which hosted all of the Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding events (Yes, he did get to briefly talk to Shaun White and witness "the flying tomato" win the gold-medal in the men's superpipe event). In the fall of 2010, Phil spent a semester in Los Angeles, CA, where he interned for the Fox News Channel and Torrance CitiCABLE 3's weekly local-sports chronicle, The SportsDesk. One of Phil's proudest works is the sports documentary he directed in early 2011 titled "The Big Red's Run: Winning is a Lifestyle," which follows the men's lacrosse team at Cornell University during their attempt to win a national title in the 2011 season. Phil has loved all Denver sports teams since childhood and he hopes to witness the Rockies and Nuggets bring home championships, so he can say was alive to see all major sports teams in Colorado win a title. When he's not working, Phil loves to snowboard, hang out with family, play with his black lab Karlee, cheer on his Ithaca Bombers, and watch his favorite show - Pardon The Interruption.
