GJ Police: man tries to steal car, runs, ditches outerwear

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - According to Grand Junction Police, Shaun O'Byrne was attempting to steal a car near 25 and G Roads.

They say the owner of the car spotted O'Byrne in action, and O'Byrne took off on foot.

Police were called, and they set up a perimeter. When they caught up with him nearby, he was with his girlfriend. Investigators say she was not involved with the incident.

Police add that O'Byrne had ditched his shoes, backpack, hat, and jacket by the time they caught up with him.

He was arrested and charged with attempted first degree criminal trespassing.
