Denver, Colo. (KKCO) A suspicious passenger was arrested Wednesday on board a United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C. to Denver, Colorado.
Wednesday night the flight landed safely at the Denver International Airport and was met by emergency vehicles.
Apparently, Federal Air Marshals subdued the passenger after smelling smoke and seeing a man in his mid-twenties emerging from a lavatory.
Investigators say the man, a diplomat from Quatari, was smoking in the bathroom. They say the flight attendant asked him what he was doing, and he lied and said he was trying to light his shoe on fire to cover up the fact that he was smoking.
One hundred and fifty-seven passengers and 6 crew members were on the flight. No injuries have been reported.
