GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - It happened in the same "S" curve as Wednesday's fatal accident, but about 400 feet further down the road.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, someone spotted a pick up truck in the area of D 1/2 and 29 Roads. A short time later, that person came upon the accident on the "S" curve and called 911. No one was in the pick-up truck. Troopers say the witness didn't know how many people were in the truck.
Authorities say they found a purse with a driver's license and a cell phone in the truck. They are trying to make contact with the owner of the purse.
This is the second time in two days there's been a crash at the "S" curve on D 1/2 Road. Some residents in the area say there should be warning signs of the curve ahead posted along the road. There are no street lamps on that particular stretch of D 1/2 Road.
The Mesa County Coroner has not released the name of the man killed in Wednesday's accident.
Troopers say the Colorado State Patrol is investigating this accident because it falls under the juristiction of the county. Grand Junction Police investigated Wednesday's fatal accident because troopers say that accident was within city limits.
