GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - There are Main Streets all over America, but none quite like the one in Grand Junction.
“They’re on Main Street, they're on Colorado, they're on Rood, they're spread around downtown,” said Harry Weiss, executive director of the Grand Junction Downtown Development Authority.
The street is lined with sculptures due to Art on the Corner, a public art initiative sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority. Artists from around the country, to include local artists, can apply to have their work shown in Grand Junction. Displayed sculptures can be purchased by the public. Unsold pieces can be added to the city’s permanent collection.
“I think there is an opportunity to actually spread the collection out a little more,” said Weiss.
Maris Biela stopped to take pictures in front of a people’s choice award winning sculpture by Gary Price.
“Well I think this stuff is really marvelous. It's really great," said Biela.
