FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) – Fruita hasn’t always been known for its trails.
“The neat thing with Moab, was mining roads and stuff they started riding, and fruita was built for mountain bikers,” said Troy Rarick, Over the Edge Sports.
The Fruita Fat Tire Festival is held annually and will be going through the weekend. It’s an opportunity to demo a bicycle from a collection of vendors, listen to some live music, or meet some new people. There are no organized rides or races, because there doesn’t have to be.
"You can center yourself around the trails, and people go ride. Anymore we don't even organize that at all. They just go," said Rarick.
“People just kinda get over the winter and want to get into some warmer weather and start riding their mountain bikes more," said Josh Borgmeyer, Trek Bicycles.
