Fruita History Fair

The Fruita Historic Preservation Board will host a Fruita History Fair at Valley Gate Center, 210 East Aspen Avenue, Fruita, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 26th. There is no charge. There will be displays of historic artifacts and photographs, covering the importance of agriculture, ranching, business, families, schools, houses, and Colorado National Monument to Fruita and the Grand Valley. There will also be a continuous digital slide show and period music, and board members will identify and scan or photograph historic artifacts, photographs, and postcards brought in by the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring in such artifacts and photographs and to ask questions. We may not know all of the answers, but we will do our best to find them!

Kismet: an evening of Middle Eastern Dance

Sultan’s Pride Middle Eastern Dancers are presenting their Spring show “Kismet” at the Grand Junction Masonic Center.
Join the ladies of Sultan’s Pride for an evening of beautiful dances and costuming from the Middle East. Adult tickets are $8.00. Tickets for children under 12 are $4. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from any Sultan’s Pride dancer.

Colorado Saddle Maker's Assoc. Spring Seminar

The Colorado Saddle Maker's Association will be holding it's annual Spring Seminar on April 25 - 27 at the Mesa County Fair Grounds. The focus of this year's seminar will be on chap making. A free public event from 6-9 P.M. on Saturday Apr. 26 will include demonstrations, a variety of styles of chaps and chinks, and an opportunity to visit with several expert,award winning chap makers. In addition, there will be vendor booths for shopping all things leather, a silent auction, and a raffle.

Nature Day Celebration

Fountain Creek Nature Center-2 presentations: “Adaptations” at 11:30am. Will discuss various plant and animal adaptations that make it possible for them to live in specific habitats. Will “dress up” several children volunteers to visually illustrate and understand some adaptations. Awesome Arthropods or “Big Bugs” at 1:30. Includes a puppet show, a presentation on arthropods and a “meet and greet” with some big bugs included hissing cockroaches and a tarantula.
