Ladies’ Appreciation Night Featuring Men, Too

Dr. Rebecca Glasser of Canyon Creek Plastic Surgery will offer a night of appreciation, September 10th beginning at 5:00 pm at the Fruita Community Center. Dr. Glasser, a plastic surgeon along with a host of other area specialists, will be on hand to provide information and products.

“The first hour, ladies will have the opportunity to walk around to various tables to learn more about products and services related to health and beauty while enjoying refreshments provided by Family Health West,” said Dr. Glasser. “At 5:30, each specialist will provide a brief talk educating women on a variety of topics, which include Bonnie Eaton, owner of Anewu Salon talking about empowering women through beauty; Dr. Kevin Howell of Grand Mesa Women’s Health Care talking about a simple procedure that eliminates heavy menstrual periods; and Dr. Michael Neste, Radiology Director at Family Health West discussing the latest advancement in breast cancer technology: 3D Mammography.”

Nature Day Celebration

Fountain Creek Nature Center-2 presentations: “Adaptations” at 11:30am. Will discuss various plant and animal adaptations that make it possible for them to live in specific habitats. Will “dress up” several children volunteers to visually illustrate and understand some adaptations. Awesome Arthropods or “Big Bugs” at 1:30. Includes a puppet show, a presentation on arthropods and a “meet and greet” with some big bugs included hissing cockroaches and a tarantula.

Martin Mortuary will open its facilities for two days on November 1 and 2, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to all members of the community to honor and learn about the cultural history of Day of the Dead.

Mariachi music and informational videos about the holiday will be playing throughout each day. An Art Walk of works for display and sale as well as some vendor booths will be available. Ten percent of all artworks and good sold will be donated to HopeWest Hospice, and the organization will receive 100 percent of all money raised from donations for food.

Saturday will feature community altars in the chapel and activities for kids, including face painting and mask making.

Partners Benefit Pistol Shoot

Come out with your handgun and 100 rounds of ammunition (no magnums) and shoot four courses of fire as an individual and/or sign up with two others to form a 3 person team and compete with local law enforcement and other local friends.
There will be Cowboy, USPSA and IDPA shooters running side shoots where you can shoot your guns. There will be loaner guns to borrow and try out for a separate fee plus ammo.
Many of your local law enforcement officers will be there to compete and to assist the public with their shooting. No experience is necessary as coaching will be provided. Come for a fun time, bring your family see how you stack up against local law enforcement and help PARTNERS help our kids.
