Light Gives Heat Presents: Rough-Cut Screening of "Moving On"
The Avalon Theater, downtown Grand Junction
Light Gives Heat is screening their full-length rough-cut documentary "Moving On." The documentary is about a young couple who gives up everything to see if they can effect the world around them and in the process are completely changed. The film documents Light Gives Heat founders, Dave and Morgan Hansow, and three of the friends they made in Uganda, Africa. Guests who fill out a short questionnaire after the screening will receive a free SUUBI necklace. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.

A Walk Through Time
Colorado National Monument Visitor Center
Colorado National Monument will host its third community wide “A Walk Through Time” event on Sunday, August 28, 2011. From 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the public is invited to walk, stroll, jog or bike along 14 miles of Rim Rock Drive without motorized traffic. A family parade will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to and from the Visitor Center to Otto’s Trail (1 mile roundtrip). Festive costumes are encouraged. Canine friends will be welcome, but must stay on a 6-foot (or shorter) leash at all times and remain on paved areas.
