Officials are trying to make it harder for teens to get alcohol by cracking down on people who supply minors with liquor.

In just the last couple of months they have written dozens of tickets, including one to Jason Roy Carley. Police say he gave alcohol to 20 year–old Derrick Maxfield.

Officials say Maxfield later drove drunk and caused a crash that killed a young mother and baby.

Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger says, “Kids will be kids that doesn't make it ok, but I think adults who intentionally facilitate that is and far worse crime.”

According to a 2007 survey of adults in Mesa County, 72 percent believe it's easy for youth to get alcohol.
