Snow expected across Colo.

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) -- The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for snow in Colorado, with up to 10 inches expected in the western mountains.

Forecasters say a storm could bring locally heavy snow to the eastern Sawatch mountains and western Mosquito Range above 11,000 feet on Wednesday.

Forecasters say hikers, climbers and other visitors to the High Country should be prepared for winter conditions above tree line.

In other parts of the state, the precipitation has been falling as rain and temperatures were expected to be about 20 degrees cooler than in recent days.

It's a welcome change after the hottest summer on record in Colorado and a busy wildfire season.

However, too much rain could cause flooding in the area burned by the Waldo Canyon fire, which destroyed 346 homes and killed two people. There's also a flood watch for a large portion of western Colorado.
