Grand Junction, CO(KKCO)-The thickening clouds over the Grand Valley yesterday was just the start to a rainy Thursday. Another round of monsoonal moisture worked its way into the area overnight and will linger throughout the day. The first round moved through, dumping a quarter inch of rain before coming to an end early this morning. A second round of rain is expected to move in by late morning and linger around throughout the entire day. Temperatures will be cooler today due to widespread cloud cover and early morning rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the entire forecast area as many areas across the Western Slope are still saturated from heavy rains over the past few days. The Flash Flood Watch will remain through 9 pm this evening.

Friday looks to be a lot dryer and warmer as temperatures climb back up closer to 90. There’s still a slight chance of rain for the higher elevations. The dry conditions on Friday and less cloud cover will result in a quick warm-up with temperatures topping out around normal.

The weekend will start off sunny but showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage and rainfall intensity each day through Monday. Increased chance of rain Sunday night into Monday as abundant moisture will once again move in with the arrival of another trough. The trough will move over the northern Rockies Monday and linger around throughout the night. Afternoon and evening storms are expected throughout the rest of the week.
