Slight chance of rain this morning, then lots of sun

Grand Junction, CO(KKCO)-A cold front moving through western Colorado this morning will continue to move to the south and east throughout the day. Showers and thunderstorms will develop around the front and will continue through this morning, especially for the south. Drier air moves in early this afternoon, clearing the skies. Temperatures in the Grand Valley are expected to be a few degrees cooler today before rebounding to near normal on Tuesday.

The southern storms will move to the east throughout the afternoon as the front continues to moving through the state. The front will exit the south by midnight bringing drier conditions which are expected to last through Tuesday night. The San Juans could experience scattered showers and thunderstorms again on Tuesday before developing high pressure pushes the moisture out late Tuesday night.

High pressure over the west will be keep the skies relatively clear through the Grand Valley for most of the work week. The high pressure ridge will weaken a little on Thursday as the next trough works its way into the Pacific Northwest. We’ll see an increased chance of showers and thunderstorms for Friday, mainly late in the day. The southern mountains will see a higher chance of rain throughout the day and into the weekend. Temperatures will peak near normal for most of the work week with overnight lows increasing as to week progresses.
