Minneapolis (AP) The arctic chill across the midsection of the country is sweeping east. The leading edge will be hitting the northeast, mid-Atlantic and south today and tomorrow.
In Michigan, the National Weather Service said temperatures early this morning ranged from minus-23 at Ironwood in the western upper peninsula to 14 in south haven in the southwestern lower peninsula.
That’s practically balmy compared to what it felt like in some places yesterday.
The wind chill was 58 below zero in Hallock, Minnesota. Grand forks, North Dakota had a record low temperatures of minus-37.
In northern Wisconsin, a man wandered away from his home in his bare feet. Deputies who followed his tracks in the snow found him dead.
