Biting Cold Hits Northeast, Keeps Even Skiers Home

Montpelier, VT. (AP) Residents in the northeast are now getting a taste of what people in the Midwest have been experiencing for days.

A bitter cold wave has brought subzero temperatures and biting wind. And forecasters say temperatures could reach 30 below in parts of the region by Thursday night. Mercifully, no major precipitation is forecast for New England.

The Midwest is still experiencing snowy conditions and that’s causing problem for drivers in the region. There were two fatal highway crashes in Ohio on Wednesday due to wintry conditions.

Also two men died Wednesday in a 20-vehicle pileup in near-blizzard conditions on the Indiana toll road.
