Crested Butte, Colo. (AP) There’s 14 inches of new snow in Crested Butte, and forecasters say snow could continue through tomorrow.
The heavy snow on top of a weak snowpack also raised the avalanche risk today, though. The Colorado avalanche information center is warning of high avalanche risk in the Park Range, Flat Tops and Elkhead mountains.
The National Weather Service has extended a winter storm warning for higher elevations around including Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte, Rocky Mountain National Park and Vail through 6 a.m. Tuesday. forecasters say the valleys could see a mix of rain and snow.
