Flash Flood Watch starts at noon today

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for much of western Colorado and eastern Utah. The Watch goes through this evening.

Officials say the ground in many areas is already saturated and more heavy showers are expected.

They warn normally dry washes and arroyos could be filled with fast-moving runnoff water this afternoon and that landslides are possible on steep slopes.

The Watch means that weather conditions could worsen and lead to flash flooding.

Colorado areas included in the watch: Animas River Basin, Central colorado River basin, Central Gunnison and Uncompahgre River Basin, Central Yampa River Basing, Debeque to Silt Corridor, Elkhead and Park Mountains, Flattops, Four Corners/Upper Dolores River, Gore and Elk Mountains/Central Mountain Valleys, Grand Valley, Grand and Battlement Mesas, Lower Yampa River Basin, Northwest San Juan Muontains, Paradox Valley/Lower Dolores River, Roan and Tavaputs Plateaus, San Juan River Basin, Southwest San Juan Mountains, Uncompahgre Plateau and Dallas Divide, Upper Gunnison River Valley, Upper Yampa River Basin and West Elk and Swatch Mountains.

Utah areas included in the watch: Tavaputs Plateau, Arches/Grand Flat, Canyonlands/Natural Bridges, Eeastern Uinta Basin, Eastern Uinta Mountains, La Sal and Abajo Mountains and Southeast Utah.
