A wet and windy night for the Florida panhandle as Tropical Storm Claudette is the first to hit the U.S. this year.
The storm made landfall near Fort Walton Beach.
Claudette’s maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph, but the storm is expected to weaken as it moves over land.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Bill has become the first hurricane of the 2009 Atlantic season as it continues to gain strength, though it still remains far from shore.
