DENVER (AP) - Frigid weather has settled across much of Colorado.

The National Weather Service reported that it was minus 13 in Leadville at 7 a.m. Thursday. It was 8 degrees in downtown Denver.

One of the warmer spots was Lamar, where the mercury hit 14.

Denver homeless shelters rolled out extra beds and piled up extra blankets because of the frigid weather. Shelter employees have also been trying to persuade people seek refuge indoors rather than try to tough it out on the streets.
