JUCO weather looking much better this year

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Mother Nature didn't show a lot of love for the JUCO World Series last year but this time around it's a whole other story. As day three wrapped up, fans were already experiencing better weather than last year.

JUCO 2009 started off with a bang, of thunder that is. Mother Nature threw out the first pitch and it was a wet one. Fans and players were drenched with a quarter inch of rain on opening day and the second day was even worse, dumping three-quarters of an inch in just a short period of time.

Along with the rain came cooler temperatures that had fans bundling up to stay warm and dry. Last year the entire tournament only had two days of sunshine.

Fans like Bill Conklin, who's been watching and working JUCO for 30 years has seen it all. "Most years we've had pretty good weather, we've had a couple of years where we've had rain delays and one year we were playing ball until 2 a.m.," he says.

This year Mother Nature is hitting a home run with fans. Jackets and umbrellas have been swapped for shorts and sandals as skies have been blue with just a few clouds.
