Funnel cloud touches down west of Denver

LEADVILLE, Colo. (NBC) - It was quite a sight over one city in Colorado.

A funnel cloud touched down Sunday morning in Leadville, about two hours west of Denver.

The cloud is called a cold–air funnel. It's formed by a single thunderstorm. There was never any danger to the area, since cold–air funnels do not turn into tornadoes.

Weather experts say this isn't the type of cloud typically associated with severe thunderstorms.
